CJHS Band
- CJHS Band made a First Division in Concert and Sight Reading as a Varisty Band for the first time in school history.
Approved Instrument Brands - Caldwell ISD
Flutes
Any: Yamaha, Pearl, Gemeinhardt, or Jupiter – WITH “OFFSET G” KEY (where available) –
OPEN HOLED INSTRUMENTS PREFERRED
REQUIRED-Tuning rod, polishing cloth and cleaning cloth.
Silk or thin cloths for cleaning the inside work best. Cleaning cloths for the outside of the instrument need to be UNTREATED. The cloths sold with silver polish or powder in the cloth are actually not good for the instrument and can scratch the finish. The cleaning cloth for the outside should not be to same for the inside. Please buy two different cloths. PLEASE no metal tuning rods. These scratch up the walls of the flute and can greatly affect tone and tuning.
Clarinets
Buffet E-11 ($) or R-13 ($$$), Leblanc, or Yamaha -- WOODEN MODELS Preferred
REQUIRED mouthpiece: “Vandoren 5RV Lyre 13 series”
REQUIRED Reeds: Vandoren, 3 strength, 1 box to begin with
(reed strength will change to 3 ½ during the year)
REQUIRED- Swab, cork grease, and mouthpiece cushion
Saxophones
Any: Yamaha (probably YAS-23 or YAS-62II) or Selmer (other brands by approval ONLY)
REQUIRED mouthpiece: Vandoren AL3 or C*
REQUIRED Reeds: Vandoren, 2.5 strength,1 box to begin with
(reed strength will change to 3 during the year)
REQUIRED - Swab, cork grease, and mouthpiece cushion
Trumpets /Cornets
Any: Bach, King, Conn, Yamaha, Jupiter, Blessing, Getzen, Holton, Edwards, Adams
REQUIRED mouthpiece: Bach 5C or 14C4 Yamaha
REQUIRED - Valve Oil, tuning slide grease and cleaning kit with mouthpiece brush and snake.
Trombones
Any: Bach, King, Conn, Yamaha, Getzen, Jupiter, Blessing, Holton, Edwards, Adams - (NO PBONES)
REQUIRED mouthpiece: Schilke 51C4 or Yamaha 51C4, Small bore (Large Bore for F Attachment)
REQUIRED - Travel size spray bottle (from Walmart), Slide O Mix (2 bottles)/ Rapid Comfort (1 bottle) (NO SLIDE CREAMS), tuning slide grease and cleaning kit with snake
Baritone (school provided instrument/student purchases mouthpiece and supplies)
REQUIRED mouthpiece: Schilke 51D or Yamaha 51D equivalent, small bore
REQUIRED - Valve Oil, tuning slide grease
Tuba (school provided instrument/student purchases mouthpiece and supplies)

Band Director Bios
Rachel Hall is a clarinetist and music educator from Belton, Texas. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, and a Master of Music in clarinet performance from Northwestern State University of Louisiana. Her primary teachers include Dr. Lindsay Neal and Dr. Malena McLaren.
During her studies at Northwestern State, Ms. Hall served as a graduate assistant for the clarinet studio, where she actively taught private lessons and organized a variety of studio events and lectures. Additionally, she worked in the music department’s sound recording studio and served as an Assistant Camp Coordinator for NSU’s Summer Band Camps. Ms. Hall also performed regularly with the Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra, the NSU Wind Symphony, and the NSU Jazz Orchestra.
Presently, Ms. Hall is the Middle School Band Director and High School Assistant Director at Caldwell ISD in Caldwell, Texas. She is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, the International Clarinet Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity.
