Andrew Peters, CISD superintendent, explains how the COVID-19 virus is affecting the school district and what CISD is doing to help students and the community during this time.

hello Amanda Peters superintendent call William D I know that there's a lot of stuff in the news right now about the coronavirus and we're having to close school for another week so I thought I'd just take a few minutes to give you an update these perspective call Elias Diaz closing do the Cove in 19 is very dangerous for senior citizens is spreading rapidly in Texas and cross the United States I want you to know that we did not make these decisions lightly we visited with the folks were the First Baptist Caldwell milk in Summerville Super King as well as other neighboring supertunias to help make this decision we have a lot more knowledge than hydrogen software the nurse took a lot of information in before we took this very major decision to close for a second week we will be closed in March 20th after the 20th I want you to be prepared for strict guidelines upon reopen their schools and I'll be honest with you you need to be prepared if you'd like possibly not reopen for another week it'll all be depending on what information we get from the health professionals in from the state of Texas this bar has strict guidelines table bases with limiting visitors and we would have to visit on the campus you have to have a nurse check you make sure you don't have a temperature call Protect all of our children as well as our students what's we open the school again we will be very flexible when it comes to attendance if you have a child has a health concerns and he can be easily endangered because of catching something we will be very flexible in rules of working with each individual as we need you we are preparing for Homebase lessons if we're unable to return the school this next week or the week after the point I don't know what that's going to look like as an elementary teacher teaching Pre-K kindergarten kids from home I don't think that's really a fair way to do it you hear a lot in the news about technology but quite honestly in our county is not everybody has access to high-speed internet so we will be working at home bass lessons just in case because the state of Texas just asked us to will be working on some of those Concepts and if we need to share those out with you sooner than later hopefully we won't have to go that route are schools open call Elias D will be fine in the free lunch for all students under the age of 19 it's a brown bag lunch sir from the c e s t i s cafeteria Italy. Every Monday in available for dries up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
