A Letter from the Superintendent:

After a failed bond in May 2018 by just 47 votes, the community and the board have come together for a complete proposal for the November general election. Robert Gadbois from OBR, the experienced facility consultant has worked with the Community Task Force and concerned citizens for over a year to make these recommendations based on walk-throughs, evaluations, and staff/community priority items. There are two propositions: Prop. A  $36,225,000 and Prop. B $3,750,000.
Proposition A:
The large proposal will include remodeling of the existing middle school building and new construction on the Gray Street property to add PK - 3rd grade classrooms and connect the existing cafeteria to the existing building.  The bond also sets aside funds to convert the current Intermediate school to a junior high school. The remodeling and additions will provide for a new junior high band hall, locker rooms, weight room at the current CIS gym, and new science classrooms.  The proposition would also add classrooms to the high school for science and the career-oriented classes and labs (health, business, marketing, culinary). The ag classrooms and ag shop will get upgrades and the entire high school building will get massive electrical upgrades. Finally, a new HS/MS gym will be built at the high school property.
Proposition B:

Refunding of the H-VAC / LED / Painting project completed this summer at CHS. It will save taxpayers money, by reducing the interest. If voters approve Prop. B, the new bond funds will have a lower interest rate due to the guaranteeing of the notes with the Texas School Permanent Fund.
